Automated 3D surface and air disinfection by aerosol in a hospital
- What is treated? Various enclosed rooms ranging in size from 70 to 140 m³.
- With which product? Sanosil Q-Jet Basic (automatic aerosol device), 6-8 ml/m³ Sanosil disinfectant.
- Method of application? Room cleaning, manual pre-disinfection of critical contact points, automated aerosol disinfection.
Scenario Description
A hospital is struggling with a high rate of nosocomial infections and antibiotic-resistant germs. Despite dedicated efforts in cleaning and disinfection, the problem remains uncontrolled.
Special Note
Many germs are not only resistant to multiple antibiotics but also insensitive to certain disinfectants based on quaternary ammonium compounds.
Implementation
To reduce the nosocomial infection rate, various measures are implemented. One of them is closing the efficacy gaps in manual cleaning and disinfection by systematically applying Sanosil aHP aerosol disinfection. This is particularly crucial in rooms with patients where antibiotic-resistant germs are detected. Rooms are meticulously cleaned manually and critical surfaces are disinfected through traditional wipe disinfection.
Subsequently, ventilation systems are turned off, and aerosol disinfection is conducted in a sealed room. After the required exposure time, ventilation is resumed, and the room is reoccupied.
Result
The measures are continuously and systematically evaluated. Within a few months, the infection rate can be reduced by over 70%. An external laboratory verifies the measurement results. It is so impressed by the outcomes that it decides to adopt the system for itself as well.
