Disinfection of sports mats / Judo mats
For hygiene reasons, especially to prevent foot and skin fungi, sports mats must be regularly cleaned and subsequently disinfected.
- What is treated? Barefoot area / Sports mats
- With which product? Sanosil S003
- Application method? Spray-wipe disinfection using a spray mop
Scenario description
The training room (Dojo) of a judo club is equipped with mats, designated for barefoot use. During ground training, there is regular direct body contact with these mats. Additionally, the mats are frequently contaminated with sweat and other bodily secretions. To enhance hygiene standards, it is proposed to not only clean the mats as usual but also to disinfect them regularly.
Special considerations
Contaminated sports mats primarily pose a risk of transmitting foot and skin fungi. Furthermore, during training, minor skin lesions and abrasions from mat friction (mat burns) are common. Dirty mats increase the risk of wound infections in these cases.
Implementation
The mats are regularly vacuumed to remove lint and dust. Visible contaminants such as blood stains are cleaned using a commercial all-purpose cleaner and a cloth. For disinfection, Sanosil S003 is added undiluted into the reservoir of a spray mop with a microfiber pad, and pressure is applied. The disinfectant is sprayed onto the mats and evenly distributed using the mop. The light moisture dries quickly without leaving sticky residues.
Result
This method allows the mats to be maintained in a clean and hygienic condition with minimal effort. According to customer feedback, the incidence of skin fungi infections has significantly decreased. Particularly appreciated is the fact that Sanosil S003 does not leave mats with sticky or slippery residues. Sanosil S003 is also compatible with all common training surfaces in combat sports, including protective gear, gloves, punching pads, etc., and can be applied using the same method there as well.
