Surface disinfection in the research and production areas of a vaccine manufacturer
- What is being treated? Floors and baseboards in a cleanroom
- With which product? Sanosil S010
- Method of application? Application with a scrubber-dryer machine, followed by manual wiping with mops
Description of the situation:
The floors in production and laboratory rooms (cleanrooms) of a vaccine manufacturer require regular disinfection using a sporocidal surface disinfectant. To prevent microbial resistance effectively, a rotational schedule between oxidizing and non-oxidizing disinfectants is employed. For the oxidizing part, the customer has chosen Sanosil S010.
Special considerations:
A method of application that is both rapid and thorough is desired. Spray application has been dismissed due to suboptimal surface coverage and high aerosol generation.
Implementation:
The surfaces are thoroughly pre-cleaned manually and with a scrubbing machine. For disinfection, the liquid tank of the scrubbing machine is filled with Sanosil S010, and the liquid suction is turned off. The machine applies a thin layer of liquid using its brushes on the floor. Two employees follow behind the machine, evenly distributing the liquid layer with microfiber mops on the floor and baseboards. This method allows for quick and seamless disinfection of a strip approximately 4 meters wide per pass.
Outcome:
The established disinfection system has proven effective. The customer particularly appreciates the absence of slippery or sticky residues. By integrating the scrubbing machine into the disinfection process, it is also regularly disinfected, preventing the formation and unintended distribution of wet germs.
